Manipal Hospitals organised an awareness talk on obesity to mark the World Obesity Day.
Vijayawada: Manipal Hospitals organised an awareness talk on obesity to mark the World Obesity Day. Addressing the gathering, several experts explained the methods of tackling the lifestyle disease.
Special check-up package was launched which included free BMI test, gastroenterology consultation and dietician consultation. Speaking on the occasion, Dr B K Surendra Jasti, consultant, Gastro Intestinal Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery and Bariatric Metabolic Surgery and Dr Satish Reddy, consultant gastro intestinal surgeon said that weight gain is not taken seriously in India until it becomes a serious problem.
An inactive lifestyle and unhealthy diet are the main culprits. T Ravi Shankar, consultant medical gastroenterology, N Murali Krishna, senior consultant, Cardiology, T Srinivas Rao, consultant, Critical Care, G Murali Krishna, consultant, Diabetes & Endocrinology and Dr G Uday Kiran, consultant, Pulmonology, Manipal Hospitals and about 200 people witnessed the session.
