Visakhapatnam: Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao has said that the State government is keen on taking a quantum leap in promoting arts and culture. Inaugurating the All India Crafts Bazaar 2019 near Kali Mata temple on the Beach Road here on Sunday, he said that all support would be extended to weavers and craftsmen to standup on their feet.

Accompanied by Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority Chairman Dronamraju Srinvasa Rao, the Minister went around the stalls put up at the fair. VMRDA Chairman Dronamraju Srinvasa Rao said that the country has already identified the importance of handicrafts since ancient days.

Earthen, glass and porcelain vessels and handwoven clothes have already been identified in protecting human health, he added.Visakha Artisans Development Society president Mohammed Naseem said that weavers and craftsmen from across 25 States have come to Visakhapatnam to exhibit their products at the fair that includes a range of handloom saris, bedspreads, terracotta wares, accessories and dresses and home decors.

Society secretary Mohammad Saleem said the fair had already completed two years and it was re-launched to continue for three more months at the venue from 10 am to 9 pm.
