Nellore: Farmers demand payment of 9 crore dues from sugar factory
Farmers are now demanding payment of dues of Rs. 9 crore from Sudalagunta Sugar Factory located in Podalakur Mandal which failed to pay amounts for sugarcane crushing of 2018-19 season
Nellore: Farmers are now demanding payment of dues of Rs. 9 crore from Sudalagunta Sugar Factory located in Podalakur Mandal which failed to pay amounts for sugarcane crushing of 2018-19 season. They met the District Collector MV Seshagiri Babu on Thursday and urged him to take necessary measures for payment of the huge dues.
They informed to the Collector that they have been supplying sugarcane to the Cooperative Sugar Factory located in Kovur for the last four decades since 1978. But the factory witnessed huge losses and the farmers stopped sugarcane supply. Sudalagunta Sugars Limited of Podalakur Mandal approached the farmers in 2017-18 asking them to supply sugar to their factory.
But the company failed to pay the dues of around Rs. 9 crore and the farmers who supplied stocks have been facing financial difficulties. They asked the Collector to collect the dues from the management for the supplies between Jan 17, 2019, and March 31, 2019. The company is having another sugar factory in Chittoor district, they explained.
