New laws mooted to check crimes against women: Deputy CM Pamula Pushpa Srivani
Deputy Chief Minister and the Tribal Welfare minister Pamula Pushpa Srivani has said that the government would enact new laws to give more protection to the women and check crimes against the women and girls.

She inaugurated the 10th National Suman Shatokan Karate national championships at the DRR Indoor Stadium on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Pushpa Srivani said Chief Minister Y S Jagan Moahn Reddy was giving top priority to protection of women and the government would enact new laws to check crimes against the women.
She pointed out that women volunteers have been appointed in all ward/village Secretariats in the State. She said Disha incident near Hyderabad underlined the need that every girl must get self-defence training like karate.
The Minister congratulated the organisers for hosting the event and giving inspiration to the girls to learn karate. Andhra Pradesh Mahila Commission chairperson Vasireddy Padma has said the girls should be given two hours training every week to learn self-defence skills.
Film actor and karate lover Suman said that he had been promoting self-defence courses for the last two decades. Suman Shatokan Karate institute founder Saidulu and players attended the event.
