Andhra Pradesh state Irrigation minister Anil Kumar Yadav said that Chandrababu had ignored Polavaram after nine years in power. Speaking on the third day of Assembly sessions on Wednesday, the state Irrigation Minister recalled that YS Rajasekahar Reddy had laid the foundation stone for Polavaram on August 11, 2004. He said Polavaram works had started since 2005 and that had been neglected after YSR's death and was fully ignored by Chandrababu, who came to power in 2014.

He said Chandrababu was late in submitting the revised estimates and alleged Chandrababu had given up on special category status for the special package. He also reminded that Chandrababu did not agree to the centre's funds for the irrigation compound in the case of Polavaram construction. Anil Kumar Yadav recalled that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had questioned this when he was the Leader of the opposition.

He said that at least 20 per cent of the work had not been done in the last five years and that Chandrababu had also written untruths in his letter to the Prime Minister. Minister said that Chandrababu has used Polavaram as an ATM and did not care of 18 thousand families who became homeless. He said they paid double under the R&R package when they came to power. He said a rehabilitation package would be provided to 17,500 families by next March. He said that CM YS Jagan has ordered the houses would be built for the families who lost their houses.

He said the Polavaram project would be completed by December 2021. He said TDP MLAs would also be invited to the inauguration of the Polavaram project and clarified that there is no question of reducing the height by even one millimeter. The Minister explained that govt is moving forward to correct the mistakes made in the estimated cost of Polavaram. Minister Anil Kumar Yadav said that CM YS Jagan had already written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the PPA Authority had also heard their arguments on the revised estimates.
