NSS volunteers need to achieve their goals: JNTU- K
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada (JNTU- K) Vice-Chancellor Prof. MM Ramalinga Raju said that while serving the community as NSS volunteers, the programme officers need to help them in achieving their goals.
Kakinada: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada (JNTU- K) Vice-Chancellor Prof. MM Ramalinga Raju said that while serving the community as NSS volunteers, the programme officers need to help them in achieving their goals.
A review meeting on the NSS programme was held at Senate Hall on the JNTU-K campus here on Thursday. Prof. Ramalinga Raju said that engineering students should be motivated to take up social engineering projects with a keen interest in taking interest in social issues.
He also said that the National Service Scheme has been introduced by the Centre to realise the dreams of Mahatma Gandhiji. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strived to make Beautiful India a slogan through the motto of 'Swachh Bharat'. He said the NSS volunteers suggested that the college be connected to the villages to plan to carry out social service activities.
Prof. M. Ramakrishna said that NSS volunteers should be of service orientation and find ways to solve many problems in the neighborhood and to motivate rural people. He said awareness programmes should be held in rural development activities.
Prasad Varma said villages are the backbones of the country's economic development. "It is a welcome change," he said, adding that employees currently working in multinational corporations have quit their jobs and are involved in rural development activities through NGOs. He suggested establishing a cultural unit in the NSS unit to take steps to develop the skills.
