Ongole: Louis Braille was the great man who brought light to the lives of the blind people, said the Indian Red Cross Society Prakasam district unit chairman Montessori Prakash.

Prakash and TVS Sarma participated as chief guests at the 212th birth anniversary of Louis Braille organised by the JP Santhinikethan Blind's School at Godugupalem in Ongole on Monday.

National Federation of the Blind representative Chitti Srinivasa Reddy, Employees Union leader Y Venkateswara Reddy, Mekala Srinivasa Rao, and others also participated in the programme and said Braille wanted a script for the people like him and developed the Braille script, which became a compass for education to the visually challenged throughout the world.

They asked the children to take inspiration from Braille and reach higher positions, forgetting about their disability.
