Rajamahendravaram: TDP State general secretary Ganni Krishna demanded the State government to pay a compensation of Rs 25,000 per acre to the damaged paddy crops in the State and pay Rs 5,000 as immediate relief to the farmers.

Speaking to the media persons here on Tuesday, he said due to Nivar cyclone paddy and horticulture crops were damaged in 12 lakh acres in the State and 1.50 lakh acres in East Godavari district.

He advised the government to purchase the wet and faded paddy from the farmers. He alleged that the government was not alerting farmers and people about the cyclones and rains. Earlier, TDP government used to alert the people as per the forecast and try to reduce the crop loss, he said.

He criticised the Chief Minister for confined for doing aerial survey of the damaged paddy fields. The government so far has not paid crop insurance amounts to the farmers.

He further said Ministers and YSRCP MLAs have been tarnishing the image of the Assembly with their behaviour and the House lost its decorum because of them. The attitude of the ruling party MLAs towards former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was shameless on their part and the people who saw the proceedings in TVs were also condemning YSRCP MLAs' behaviour.
