Rajamahendravaram: Expressing doubts on the sanctity or legality of Legislative Council, former MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar said that the Assembly had not passed any resolution for the formation of Council after division of the state.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, the Arun Kumar, who used to insist that Andhra Pradesh bifurcation was not done because of the anomalies in the process, said after shifting of state capital from Madras, there was a discussion in Assembly on the formation of Council and then Union minister A K Sen too spoke in Parliament in this regard.

"Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy may raise the question why the Assembly has not passed resolution on the establishment of C, instead of entering into argument in this regard," he said.

He also said it was not correct on the part of former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu making comments on the courtesy call of former judge of apex court Justice Jasti Chalameswar to Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He further added Naidu met Justice Chalameswar when he was involved in vote-for-note case and questioned was it correct. Berating the agitation by farmers who gave land for Amaravati, he said, "Decentralisation of development is important and then comes decentralisation of administration.

Some political parties are making ruckus about Amaravati and the lands given by the farmers for the capital. The farmers may continue agitation for some more days and then what?".

At the same time, Arun Kumar also objected to Jagan's comparison of Visakhapatnam with Hyderabad in regard to future development. "The state has the bad experience of development concentrated in Hyderabad. In light of this, better to decentralise development instead of following Hyderabad example," he said.

He also advised the government to distribute pensions at one place instead of distributing at the doorstep of the beneficiaries.

He said the BJP government at the Centre was raising slogans of Hinduism and war at time of elections which is not correct and there was no need to think about Pakistan obsessively, as that country was not comparable to India in many aspects.

Zilla Grandhalaya Samsta former chairman Allu Bobby and others were present.
