District Collector P S Pradyumna, at a meeting held at Dr Ambedkar Bhavan here on Sunday, paid rich tributes to Dr.B R Ambedkar on the occasion of the 128th birth anniversary celebration of Dr Ambedkar.
Chittoor: District Collector P S Pradyumna, at a meeting held at Dr Ambedkar Bhavan here on Sunday, paid rich tributes to Dr.B R Ambedkar on the occasion of the 128th birth anniversary celebration of Dr Ambedkar. Addressing the meeting, Collector Pradyumna recalled the great services of Dr.Ambedkar for the upliftment of the oppressed , backward sections and minorities in the country.
``Dr.Ambedkar was posthumously conferred with Bharath Ratna, the highest civilian award in the country. He was a Dalit social reformer and father of Indian Constitution. He was an icon for Indian Constitution and his vision for the uplift of the poor and down trodden was unique,'' he said. He stressed that young generation should come up to the expectations of Ambedkar for the development of the country.
He gave details of various development schemes relating to the SCs and STs. Pradyumna called upon the people of the district to follow the footsteps of Dr.Ambedkar and reiterated that Dr.B.R.Ambedkar was the ideal leader for all the communities. Joint Collector P S Girisha, District Revenue Officer Gangadhar Goud, Deputy Director of Social Welfare Vijayakumar and several other officers and leaders of several Dalit unions were present.
Earlier District Collector has garlanded to Dr.Ambedkar statue and took part in a rally . Meanwhile, District TDP leaders have paid rich tributes to Dr.Ambedkar at TDP office in which ZP Chairperson Girvani Chandra Prakash, Chittoor MLC B N Rajasimhulu and others were present.
