As a commitment towards environment, the Airports of Authority of India (AAI) has commissioned a solar power plant with a capacity of 998 KW was commissioned at Tirupati Airport.

Tirupati: As a commitment towards environment, the Airports of Authority of India (AAI) has commissioned a solar power plant with a capacity of 998 KW was commissioned at Tirupati Airport. The Regional Executive Director of AAI S Sreekumar has switched on the plant.

The Airport Director S Suresh was also present on the occasion. The ground mounted solar photovoltaic power plant will generate power for airport's requirement. Excess power will be added to the national grid.

The project has been developed under Renewable Energy Service Company Model (RESCO) jointly by AAI and Fourth Partner Energy Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad. When fully functional, Tirupati airport will be benefited with clean, renewable and cost-effective energy source of solar power.
