The YSRCP in-charge until then, Yedam Balaji joined TDP and offered support to defeat Krishna Mohan.

The TDP assembly candidate Karanam Balarama Krishnamurthy started his political career in Chirala as youth Congress leader. Though he has great connections in all constituencies in the district, Chirala is like his special someone. He worked as Addanki, Martur MLA and Ongole MP earlier and known for his command over development activities in his tenure. He said to the cadre in Chirala that he will be available in his own house in Chirala regularly from now on. He is meeting the Padmasali, Yadava, fishermen and Dalit community leaders in the constituencies daily and requesting support from them to develop the Chirala Assembly constituency.

Amanchi Krishna Mohan, the sitting MLA, and YSRCP candidate is also meeting various communities to garner support to him. He is countering the allegations being made by the TDP leaders and challenging them to take the legal course to prove any of the allegations.

Speaking to The Hans India, Krishna Mohan said that he need not respond on any allegations made against him. Krishna Mohan said that he is least concerned about the opponent and said that he will win with a tremendous majority. He said that the TDP candidate and his son has lost support from his own community and lost in the last two elections. He said that his majority in the elections will be his answer to the allegations levelled against him. However, Karanam Balaram is not available for comment.
