Tirumala: In an effort to provide fool-proof safety at Boondi Potu (temple kitchen), TTD decided to induct 26 more thermo-fluid stoves replacing the existing LPG ovens. There are 30 LPG ovens in Potu located outside the shrine adjacent to the Prakaram in Tirumala for preparing Boondi an ingredient of the Laddu prasadams. Of them 4 have already been replaced with thermo-fluid stoves.

With the TTD decision to install 26 more new stove in the Boondi Potu, all the 30 ovens will be changed to thermo-fluid stoves as part of series of measures proposed by TTD to check fire mishaps in the kitchen.

TTD Additional Executive Officer A V Dharma Reddy on Tuesday held a review meeting with senior officials on pending works pertaining to various departments in Tirumala.

Reddy said apart from installing new thermo-fluid stove, additional measures also taken up to enhance safety level in the Boondi Potu.

Accordingly, the Health Officer has been instructed to inspect the Potu daily to oversee the cleaning while Superintendent Engineer II also inspect along with other officials.

During the review meeting at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala, the Addl EO said there is a need to revamp accommodation wing in Tirumala to ensure transparency in the allotment of rooms to pilgrims.

On making Tirumala plastic free, he said as an alternative measure 724 water dispensers and 3000 cans were placed at different locations in Tirumala.

Meanwhile, Tirupati Urban SP Dr Gajrao Bhupal along with TTD chief security and vigilance officer (CVSO) Gopinatha reviewed the arrangements to be made for the smooth conduct of Ratha Sapthami festival in Tirumala.
