Tirupati: City MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy gave away the cheques towards the group loans provided by AP Brahmin Cooperative Credit Society floated by AP Brahmin Corporation to the members of Brahmin society here on Sunday.
The loan beneficiaries include Rs 45,000 each to 7 Arundati group totalling Rs 3.15 lakh, Rs 60,000 each to 7 Vasishta groups totalling Rs 4.2 lakh and five Potu (Tirumala kitchen) workers each Rs 2 lakh totalling Rs. 10 lakh.
Credit Society governing body member Chitrapu Hanumantha Rao said the society has two branches – one at Tirupati and another at Madanapalli in Chittoor district having about 6,000 members. He said the society took up providing loans at nominal interest to the members of Brahmin community.
Credit society vice president Swarajya Lakshmi and others were present.
