Vijayawada: Police Commissioner Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao on Sunday advised the denizens to be couscous about cyber crimes and should not fall prey to the cyber criminals.

The Police Commissioner was the chief guest at an awareness programme on cyber crimes organised by Rotary Club of Vijayawada Sri Durga on the premises of PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science.

Addressing the gathering, the police chief said that people who were falling prey to cyber crime offenders are both educated and uneducated people. He said that many cyber crime cases are being booked and the cyber crime police team have cracked down the cases tactfully and recovered the amounts and handed over to the beneficiaries.

He said that people who do online shopping should purchase through their official website. He said that one should not believe call that 'Yours SIM is being cloned' He said that there are many ways of cheating people online, he said and added that people should be very careful while disclosing their details to strangers online.

He also suggested to install a 'Be Safe' app on the mobile phone and call 1091, 78370 18555 in case of emergency. Club president K Durga Koteshwara Rao, secretary Prem Kumar and others were present.
