Vijayawada: BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana alleged the sand scarcity was still continuing and people were forced to shell out huge amounts to get it despite tall claims of the government.

He accused the YSRCP government of creating artificial scarcity of sand and sand mafia had been looting the state after the new government came to power.

Lakshminarayana inaugurated the BJP Dharmika Cell office and official spokesperson Kotasai's office at Fakeergudem in the city here on Monday.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, he said the TDP government had created the sand mafia and the current government was supporting it. "Bot TDP and YSRCP looted the state through the sand mafia. The YSRCP government is claiming that the sand problem has been solved but the scarcity continues in the state," he said and demanded that the state provide financial assistance to the kin of the construction workers who lost their lives due to lack of work in recent weeks.

Referring to debate on English medium in government schools in the state, the BJP state leader said the party was not against English language and the party respects all languages. However, he demanded the government should continue the Telugu medium schools as usual and open English medium schools and classes as per the demand. He said the BJP strongly supports primary education in Telugu medium and English language could be taught separately for the convenience of children.

BJP state Dharmika cell president G Srikrishna Chaitanya Sarma and spokesperson Kotasai also spoke on the occasion.
