Visakhapatnam: A host of events to mark Visakha Utsav
Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao said that Visakha Utsav will be held on December 28 and 29.
Visakhapatnam: Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao said that Visakha Utsav will be held on December 28 and 29.
Releasing a poster of the utsav at the circuit house on Monday, he said that the state government had sanctioned Rs 2 crore for the event. Further, the Minister said that the district holds a special place in Andhra Pradesh like how Mumbai is to India.
He called for collective effort to make the ensuing event a grand celebration, drawing thousands of tourists and enhancing the brand image of the city and placing it on a global map. The primary venue of Visakha Utsav would be RK Beach. While cultural programmes will be held opposite hotel Novotel, a platform would be provided to local artistes at YSR City Central Park, Srinivasa Rao informed.
Flower show, music concerts, sports, adventure and amusement activities, exhibition, jathara and food courts form a part of the two-day carnival. Local artisans will also be facilitated an avenue to exhibit their crafts.
In collaboration with the APSRTC, Tourism Development Corporation and private tour operators, Srinivasa Rao said special travel arrangements will be made during the festival.
Commissioner of Police R K Meena, Chairman of VMRDA Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, District Collector V Vinay Chand, MLAs Tippala Nagi Reddy and Golla Babu Rao, among others took part in the poster launch of the utsav.
