Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and GITAM Deemed to be University Computer Science and Engineering department jointly organised a workshop on Google Android Developer Fundamentals here on Thursday.

While inaugurating the workshop, APSSDC associate project director (SIEMENS) A Ravikumar said the government is committed to prepare the budding engineers with skill development. He mentioned that the students must acquire the skills in the areas of app design, app prototyping and commercializable apps development.

He also addressed the latest versions of android and importance mobile application development in AP sector. GITAM Institute of Technology in-charge principal Prof C Dharma Raju said in view of industry 4.0 requirements GITAM university has introduced machine learning and artificial intelligence in all engineering branches. He observed that skill requirements are changing time to time and the industries are informing the same to academic institutions. This year GITAM campus placements crossed 2000 mark and still the companies are asking slots for campus recruitments, he added.

GITAM Computer Science Engineering Department Head Prof K Tammi Reddy said that in near future there is only scope for application development jobs rather than service oriented.

Over 70 students have participated in the workshop. The workshop is scheduled to be conducted in two phases where each phase is of three days each. The expert trainers B Siva Prasad, Lokesh and M Gopi from APSSDC are handling the lectures. The registered and participated students in workshop will get Google certification after successful completion of the six-day workshop.
