Visakhapatnam: The government appointed three more members to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing into the alleged land scam in Visakhapatnam.

Addressing media at the Collectorate, SIT chief Vijay Kumar said the government has also extended the tenure of SIT for three more months besides appointing three members.

He said the government appointed three additional members to speed up the investigation apart from himself, Y V Anurada and T Bhaskara Rao. In addition to the existing team, a retired IAS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre K Durganand Prasad Rao, Additional Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar Meena, and Chief Conservator of Forests Rahul Pandey.

Of the 1,400 applications received so far, about 400 have been investigated. The rest is under investigation.

The meeting was attended by the SIT team Anuradha and Bhaskara Rao, District Collector V Vinay Chand, Rajiv Kumar Meena, GVMC Commissioner G Srijana, VMRDA Commissioner Koteswara Rao and District Revenue Officer M Sreedevi among others.
