Visakhapatnam: BJP MLC P V N Madhav on Sunday said that efforts were on to strengthen the presence of BJP by highlighting the schemes launched by the party in the past one year.

Releasing brochures on the first anniversary of Modi 2.0, Madhav said the state government, both the present and the previous ones, used the Central government schemes as theirs by changing the names. "This will be highlighted in our campaign which aims at strengthening the BJP's presence in the state," he maintained.

Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historical decisions, former MP K Haribabu said that it will be propagated further through distribution of pamphlets.

BJP leader P Vishnu Kumar Raju said that steps were afoot to continue the transparent governance in the next elections as well.

Referring to Tekkali MLA K Atchannaidu's arrest at his native place, Vishnu Kumar Raju said that there was no need to take the TDP leader into custody in such a hasty manner. "He is a senior leader and arresting him in a hasty manner is not appropriate. Apparently, it looks like the police wanted to get a pat from their higher-ups by arresting Atchannaidu," he pointed out. He asked whether the police were taking similar action against others as well?

Those affected by LG Polymers gas leak also aired their concerns at the meeting. They said water has been contaminated at Venkatapuram for the past one month and continues to be non-potable. They demanded that the officials concerned should focus on the issue and consider steps to resolve it at the earliest. BJP state secretary S Kasi Viswanadha Raju, BJP leader M Ravindra, among others were present.
