Vizianagaram: Online classes are adding financial burden to parents. Middle-class families are forced to buy laptops or smartphones to enable their children to take classes online. Apart from it, they are forced to subscribe to unlimited internet data.

The pandemic has put the middle-class and salaried class to a lot of hardship. Even small-time traders have been undergoing privations as their business remained closed during the lockdown and the financial capacity has remained unstable.

Even as the people are under tremendous pressure, the schools and colleges have started online classes for their students.

K Narayana, working in a showroom in Vizianagaram, said he was forced to buy a smartphone with unlimited internet data to enable his daughter, studying tenth class, to attend online classes. Apart from it, the school managements are forcing the parents to pay first term fee and buy textbooks to allow students to attend online classes. Parents said they were forced to borrow money from moneylenders to help their children.
