Eluru: West Godavari District Collector R Muthyala Raju has informed Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy that the district needs 1,920 acres of land for distribution of house sites in urban and rural areas as per a primary assessment.
He attended the video-conference of the Chief Minister here on Tuesday. In the conference, the Chief Minister reviewed on the progress in implementation of various priority schemes with various District Collectors.
Jagan asked the Collectors to redress the grievances of the citizens which were submitted by the people at the 'Spandana' programme within the shortest possible time to build confidence in them. It was the responsibility of the Collector to redress the grievances, he added.
The officials should think from the people's perspective and imagine what they expected if they were in the people's place. He announced that orientation classes would be conducted for Tahsildars, MPDOs and municipal commissioners in October to help them resolve the petitions in such a fashion that people hail their functioning.
The orientation classes would be conducted for two districts each. Social audit should be given priority in the village secretariat system commencing from October 2. The lists with details of beneficiaries of pensions, ration cards and various welfare schemes should be displayed on notice board.
Follow-up action on objections raised at social audit should be completed by November and fresh applications for ration cards and pensions should be accepted from December, he added. Joint Collector M Venugopala Reddy and other officials were present on the occasion.
