Srikakulam: The YSRCP Government is committed to uplift low-income group people in the State, said Minister for Roads and Buildings Dharmana Krishna Das.

Inaugurating the YSR Vahana Mitra Scheme here on Friday, the minister said under the scheme 10,452 auto and cab drivers would get Rs 10,000 aid every year through their bank accounts and the financial assistance would be used to meet their regular expenditure as part of maintenance of vehicle.

Stating the district stood in second position in enrollment of YSR Vahana Mitra members across the state, he distributed Vahana Mitra certificates to drivers of autos, cabs and cars.

He added the government would pay Rs 12,500 to farmers from October 15 as financial aid for their welfare. During padayatra, Jagan Mohan Reddy directly interacted with drivers of autos and cab drivers to know their problems, he said.

And after assuming power, Jagan committed to his assurances made during padayatra within a span of three months, he stated. Etcherla MLA G Kiran Kumar, District Collector J Nivas and Deputy Transport Commissioner Dr Vaddi Sundar participated.
