Vizianagaram: TDP state unit president K Kala Venkata Rao the Union government had recognised Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh and released the revised map accordingly following the efforts of TDP MPs.

Addressing the media here on Sunday, Venkata Rao accused YSRCP MPs of working for their self-interests ignoring those of the state's. He said their leader N Chandrababu Naidu had laid foundation stone for Amaravati and brought international reputation to the state but the present government was simply ignoring the state capital itself.

"They alleged that we didn't build Amaravati and it is just an illusion. But the government now is functioning from the same Secretariat which was built by our TDP government. YSRCP is only focusing on destruction of buildings and rolling back the decisions taken by the previous government," he added.

The former minister said the YSRCP owed an explanation to people who voted for it regarding its silence on Special Category Status. "Their MPs are making use of their posts and powers only for lobbying, instead of public interest," he said.

He said the government on one side was saying that t would reduce liquor sale and cut down on the number of bars but on the other hand illegal liquor shops were increasing in villages polluting the social atmosphere there. He also alleged that ruling party leaders were minting money by hoarding and selling sand at exorbitant prices.

The TDP leader expressed concern that owing to the corruption of the YSRCP government, no new investors were venturing to invest in state while those who had already committed themselves were moving out. On defections from the party, he said that no important leader had quit the party as of now and added that the TDP was a factory which could churn out leaders in a short time.
