During the sale, the category of products like smart phones and large appliances witnessed higher sales while fashion segment attracted new customers, Amazon.in said.

The sale that commenced on September 29, was live till 11.59 pm of October 4, 2019. At present, Amazon India has 5 lakh sellers bringing up to 2 million products on the platform, with around 2 lakh products that are being added in a phase, Shalini Puchalapalli, Director, Category Management, Amazon India, told reporters here.

Puchalapalli further said, in this period of sale, Amazon.in has reached 99.6 per cent pin codes in India. '90 per cent of our customers are from the Tier 2, 3 and 4 cities.

This is the reach we have been able to dive into, which has been possible due to our wide network of fulfillment centres. Moreover, the number of customers as prime members has gone up by 100 per cent in the last 18 months," she added.

In addition, Amazon.in under its Great Indian Festival had organised Amazon Festive Yatra, a house-on-wheels. The Yatra brought products from big brands, small and medium businesses, startups and artisans, along with exclusive products from Karigar and Saheli programmes.

The house-on-wheels started its travel from New Delhi, followed by Lucknow, Ahmedabad and had reached Hyderabad on Friday.

Amazon.in said that en route, they have been engaging with their customers and sellers in Agra, Chennai, Indore, Kolkata, Kochi, Mathura, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam.
