After the much-hyped Dr Rajasekhar's 'Kalki,' bombing at the box office, young actor Akhil Akkineni has reportedly developed second thoughts about working with new-age director Prashanth Varma and put their upcoming movie on hold.

"Their film was supposed to start from January, 2020, but it looks doubtful for now. Already, Akhil is holding discussions with other directors," says a source, close to the family.

Actually, the scion of Akkineni family showed keen interest to work with 'Awe' director since the teaser and trailer of 'Kalki' triggered a lot of hype but the period cop drama turned out to be a damp squib.

"Akhil wants to work with directors who are among hits and doesn't want to take any chances at this stage of his career," the source adds.

After working with seasoned directors like V V Vinayak and Vikram Kumar, Akhil is determined to join hands with younger directors as they can connect with the gen next audience.

"Akhil is quite confident about his upcoming film with Bommarillu Bhaskar since it is turning out to be a wholesome entertainer.

Hence, he wants to ensure another sure-shot winner and looking for the right kind of director who could give him a hit," the source points out.

No doubt, Prashanth is surely going through tough times because T-town stars prefer directors who deliver box office hits as talent is secondary for them.
