Guntur: The state government is likely to open junior colleges by July-end to start classes for senior Intermediate students in the backdrop of Covid-19 outbreak.

The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) officials began the exercise for this. Sources say the date will be announced in two or three days.

According to norms, junior colleges have to work at least 220 days in an academic year. Generally, admissions in junior colleges would start before opening of the colleges.

But Covid and lockdown disrupted the entire schedule as SSC exams have not been held, a precondition for admissions.

The BIE has decided to implement Computerised Automated Student Online Admission system (e-Admissions) from the academic year 2020-21 to bring in transparency.
