Visakhapatnam: The role of alumni is crucial for the development of the university, particularly in improving the institution's ranking by extending support to various aspects, GITAM president M. Sri Bharat said.

Interacting with the alumni of 1985-89 batch of the institution at the reunion programme held on the campus, he mentioned that alumni relations have become a strategic asset for any institution that aims to stand out in the competitive world.

GITAM'S president informed that the institution has presently been positioned in the top 100 institution list in the country and strategically planning to reach the top 100 ranking list in the world by 2040. He said that the institution was planning to invest more in research and development area. "We are involving foreign faculty members to teach our programmes so as to meet the international standards," he added.

Further, Sri Bharat mentioned that the alumni is considered an important asset and their contributions and involvement can significantly increase the institution's reputation at national and international levels.

GITAM Deemed to be University Vice-Chancellor K. Sivaramakrishna requested the alumni to provide support for the development of the institution and could come up with proposed solutions to resolve the challenges faced. He briefed about GITAM's growth in three states along with its vision.

Intituition'sRegistrar K.V.G.D. Balaji, student affairs director K. Veerabhadram, alumni (1985-89 batch) coordinator C.V. Gopinadh and others participated in the programme which provided a rare platform for the alumni to catch up with their friends and reminisce their unforgettable experiences.
