    One person killed in Srikakulam

    Srikakulam: One person killed by his old rivals in Srikakulam city. The deceased was belongs to Uttara Pradesh State and settled here by doing business. Police suspected that extramarital relationship might be reason for the killing. Police registered case and launched investigation.

    Srikakulam News: Three fishermen drowned in the Bay of Bengal

    Three fishermen drowned in the Bay of Bengal at Kalingapatam in Gara Mandal. While they were returning after fish hunting the boat in which they were boarded was capsized and three fishermen drowned. The deceased were belonging to Bandaruvanipeta in Gara mandal.

    Dharmavaram (Anantapur): In a bizarrie incident a mother killed her 2 year old daughtet and attempted suicide in the town on Saturday. According to the police Meenakshi the mother of two girls had reportedly differences with her husband. When the busband was out on an errand and her elder daughter Thanusree is away from home in her grandfather's place, Thanusree stabbed her younger daughtet and also stabbed herself. After sensing that she is not dieing, she hung herself to a ceiling fan in her bedroom. Sensing something fishy, the neighbours came to her house and found her in a hanging position. Immediately Thanusree was rushed to hospital where she is recovering while her 2 yearl old daughter Pranuthi succumbed to stab injuries. The police are investigating into the causes of Meenakshi's extreme step.

    Anantapur News: In the elections held to Anantapur Bar Council on Friday, advocate Mallikarjuna has been elected president and Valmiki Gangadhar as general secretary has been declared elected today. Three candidates B.Mallikarjuna, V.J.Ravi Kumar and Bheemanna contested for presidentship and secured 222, 175 and 102 votes respectively. Mallikarjun has been declared elected. He has been elected for the third consequetive term.

    Anantapur News: In a joint operation by the police and the forest security personnel, sandal wood logs illegally transported into a scent factory atBasavampalle in Amarapallemandal havè been seized by the police and the forest guards. 4 tonnes of sandalwood worth Rs.1.27 crores have been seized after condu ting zearches in the company premises. The manager of the company has been arrested while the owners of the company are said to be atlarge, according to divisional forest office sources.

    Truck drivers struck in sand quarry

    Around 70 trucks were stranded in the sand reach in Munneru rivulet due to sudden increase of flood watr levels in Krishna district on Saturday. The trucks load the sand from the sand quarry. As usual around 70 trucks reached the sand quarry to upload the sand. All of a sudden Munneru rivulet flood waters surged. Consequently the panicked truck drivers were stranded in the flood water. The rescue teams started the rescue operations to bring back the truck drivers to the safe area with the help of boats. Some boats were pressed into service to rescue the truck drivers struck in the sand reach in Kanchikacharla mandal. About two feet of flood water was flowing towards the Krishna river due to sudden flash floods.

    India reports 38,667 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours

    India reported 38,667 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, a government statement said on Saturday.

    Daily COVID-19 deaths in the country rose by 478, health ministry data showed. Total cases rose to 32.12 million.
