Ban Chinese products

The barbaric killing of Col Santosh and other soldiers of Indian Army by Chinese soldiers is highly deplorable (Bloody faceoff with China, June 17). The irony is that the Chinese Army pre-planned the attack with iron rods and other pre-historic tools. The brave Indian Army soldiers of Bihar Regiment fought valiantly and as per reports 20 soldiers sacrificed their lives.

Ever since India rejected to join the Road and Belt initiative of China, it is relentlessly trying to harm India's interests in every time. China vehemently opposed India's permanent membership in UN Security Council. Every time and everywhere China is hurting India. This is high time that India should repay for the follies. Denying Indian market to Chinese goods will hurt more. India should immediately impose a ban on all kinds of imports from China. It is very painful to watch the rowdyism of PLA and vulgar support from Chinese media for the barbaric attack. The New Year 2021 should be free from Chinese goods and services. Otherwise there is no meaning for the sacrifice of Col Santosh and his men. The ban should continue till China restores the borderline with pre-1962 war. China should return Aksai Chin which it occupied in 1962, the Indian land. Till then business with China should not be as usual.

Teach China a lesson or two!

This refers to the report 'Bloody faceoff with China' (June 17). In the most serious incident at the LAC in 45 years, several Indian soldiers – including a colonel – were killed in clashes with Chinese troops in Galwan valley. The skirmish appears to have been physical in nature without shots being fired. Nonetheless, they were brutal enough to dash any hopes of restoring the status quo ante on the LAC. The timing of the Chinese aggression and Beijing's assertive claims in the Galwan valley appear to be part of a strategy to remind India of its vulnerabilities. It could be a warning to India not to join the diplomatic chorus, absolutely legitimate, for an independent investigation of coronavirus's origins. By getting New Delhi to kowtow to its diplomatic positions, Beijing would also be sending a strong signal to other neighbouring countries about who holds the whip hand in Asia and get them to fall in line. India should give China a taste of its own medicine and weaponise trade by imposing sanctions against Chinese imports. Beijing can't kill our soldiers at the LAC and expect to benefit from our huge market.

Counter Chinese actions

Violent face-off between Indian Army personals and Chinese troops took 20 precious lives of soldiers including a colonel rank officer while 43 Chinese troopers were killed allegedly. China has been flexing its muscles along the LAC for a few days. It is a wake-up call for us to understand to understand Chinese intentions and take steps to counter it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for an all-Party meeting on June 19 to tell the government's stand on it.
