Tarnaka: The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) celebrated International Yoga Day on Friday. A large number of students, teaching and non-teaching staff of the university participated in the event and made it a grand success.

International Training Programme (ITP) participants from Russia praised the noble efforts of Prof E Suresh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, in facilitating a 90-minute yoga session and expressed their desire to continue practising yoga.

The session was conducted by senior yoga trainer Dr Venkatarajayya. Several attendees felt that the event marked the beginning of a healthy journey and hoped that practising yoga can help them improve their physical and mental capacities to prepare the mind and body for long-term health.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof E Suresh Kumar, VC, EFLU said, "I congratulate all the participants for joining the session and urge all of them to practise yoga for a healthy mind and a healthy body."

Safi Levina, Russia: I have been practising yoga for more than 10 years. I had Indian colleagues in Macau who helped me learn yoga. This is the first time I participated in a yoga session with so many Indians and it is such a great experience. I look at yoga as an ancient science that unites body and mind. Happy to be a part of International Day of Yoga.

Flora Yakubova, Russia: This is my first time in my life I've participated in yoga training. It is really interesting. I have plans to learn yoga in future and practice it regularly.

Irina Evtushenko, Russia: First yoga experience for me, but it was really enthusiastic and funny. The interesting aspect that I observed is that many people are voluntarily participating in yoga training on a day dedicated for yoga. Thanks to the EFL University for giving us this opportunity to witness this grant event.
