Musheerabad: As part of its 'Chalo Bus Bhavan' protest, Telangana Jathiya Mazdoor Union (TJMU) took out a rally from its office in Vidyanagar to Bus Bhavan, staged a protest followed by a huge meeting on Monday. Union leaders from various depots across the state participated in the protest.
Addressing TSRTC employees, state general secretary of the association Hanumanthu Mudhiraj demanded that the state government buy new buses and recruit staff in order to save TSRTC.
He alleged that deliberate attempts, such as not adding new buses to fleet, encouraging private vehicles and stopping recruitments were being made by the state government to destroy the organisation. He warned the state government to stop its efforts to weaken the organisation.
He demanded the state government to withdraw several illegal duties imposed on them and recruit new personnel to meet increasing work load. He demanded the government to make the RTC as a government department, merging it into to government.
Other demands he made were: Providing job security to drivers and conductors, abolishing outsourcing, decreasing work load, implementation of MPW Act and reduction in state duties. He also demanded the state government to return Rs 536 crore which the management has taken from CCS.
Remembering the key role played by RTC employees during Telangana agitation, he said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao could easily address the issues if he takes them seriously. Later, protestors met TSRTC EDA in Bus Bhavan and submitted a memorandum.
Union leaders T Sudhakar, city joint secretary S Narsaiah, R Kailasam and others participated in the rally. An atmosphere of tension prevailed when police tried to stop the rally taken out from TJMU office in Vidyanagar citing a reason that they had not taken permission to conduct the rally.
