Secunderabad: The Prohibition and Excise department has invited applications for lease of liquor shops in the Secunderabad station limits for the years 2019-21 and also tenders in a notification, said Excise Inspector M Navaneetha.

Twenty-six shops have been allotted to the Secunderabad station area across 12 wards. Interested persons can submit applications, along with Rs 2 lakh as the admission fee, in the Secunderabad station and other stations concerned by October 16.

The shops are to be allotted on October 18. A press release issued by the department stated on Thursday that, unlike in the past, the licence fee can be paid in eight installments with 50 per cent reduced bank guarantee.

The wards have been clubbed into two clusters. Besides, the EMD has been cut from Rs.5 lakh. Processing of the applications has been simplified. Navaneetha claimed that the excise policy has been evolved with the aim of making it accessible to commoners.
