Hyderabad: Local traffic police on Tuesday took up an awareness programme against footboard travel in private college buses and RTC buses by passengers, mainly students, while laying stress on the risks involved.

Traffic CI Sitaram advised people to avoid travelling on footboards in crowded buses. Instead, he said, they should opt for another bus, thus avoiding getting involved in accidents, particularly referring to students. People should avoid standing and sitting on doors while travelling in private vehicles.

The CI cautioned drivers of RTC buses and private vehicles not to overspeed, so as to avoid accidents. Among the police personnel present during the programme besides Sitaram, were Inspector Swamy, SIP Prabhakar Reddy, RTC Inspectors Dhananjay and Arjun.
