Dabeerpura: The works of the Dabeerpura nala remains pending for the last six months, in spite of a visit by Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owaisi for the third time and inspection of top officials from GHMC time to time. The weed which has grown all over speaks volumes about the official apathy.

Earlier during monsoon, the developmental works including Dabeerpura nala in Old City were sanctioned after the then GHMC Commissioner, Dana Kishore, along with local MLA had visited during mid-May. The works which started in June have not yet been completed and are still pending. The works, for which an amount of Rs 1.9 crore has been sanctioned, include desilting, removal of debris and constructing new pillar and a slab.

"The works were started six months back in view of monsoon season, but even after the rains stopped the works still remain pending. Interestingly, one can see weed growing all over," said Abdul Rahman, a social activist. Speaking to The Hans India, Rahman wondered why the development works remain pending even after the higher authorities made several visits. In the latest visit on November 5, Asaduddin Owaisi along with newly appointed GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, Zonal Commissioner, local MLA and other officials made a visit, but there was no progress, he added.

Due to the works going on at a snail's pace, the open nala eating up the space meant for traffic has been the cause for regular traffic jams in Dabeerpura and in surrounding areas like Noor Khan Bazar, Purani Haweli, Darulshifa, Kali Khabar, Yakutpura Bada Bazar. As most of the traffic passes through Dabeerpura Darwaza x road, this has turned into a chocking point, said Abdul Aleem, local MBT Leader.

He said due to on-going works, the nala has been kept open and it poses danger and also causes inconvenience to the local as well as commuters. He also said that a complaint on social media platforms regarding the issue was made by tagging the authorities. "I tweeted by tagging GHMC online but still there is no response from the authorities", he added.
