Hyderabad: Revanth Reddy, Congress Parliament candidate from Malkajgiri, has written a letter to the ECI and Chief Election Officer of Telangana urging them to make sure that employers declare paid holiday on the polling day to enable the voters to exercise their franchise.

He requested them to see that the law is enforced in its true spirit. Revanth stated that he received many complaints from the labourers and employees working in and around Kompally and the industrial area in Jeedimetla about their employers not declaring holiday on April 11.

In spite of the clear instructions from the Election Commission, a few managements are forcing their workers to attend the work on the polling day by violating Section 135-B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, he stated in the letter. He also brought the issue to the notice of the Returning Officer in Malkajgiri.
