Kharkhana: Even as 'Feed the Need' public refrigerators for the needy, an initiative taken up by GHMC and Apple Homes is getting a huge response in GHMC limitations, taking cue from them, a resident of Kharkhana, MV Raghavacharyulu, has proposed to install 'Feed the Need' fridge at Kharkhana transport road which comes under SCB limits, but the proposal was shot down by SCB authorities.

Raghavacharyulu, environmental scientist at Bhagavathi Ana Labs Pvt Ltd and a resident of Venkat Ram Nagar Colony, Kharkhana, said, "Rs 1.5 lakh fund was raised to install the fridge at the Kharkhana Transport Road. We chose the location as there is a government high school nearby.

Usually, the maintenance and power supply are provided by GHMC but Kharkhana falls under SCB limits, informed Nideesh Pullarkat, Executive Officer of Apple Homes. "This installation of the fridge at a particular location was stalled as due to fund crunch in SCB," says J Lokanadham, SCB ward member - VIII.
