Secunderabad: President of contract nursing staff union affiliated to AITUC M Narsimha criticized the state government's decision to give the salaries in the range of Rs 10,000-12,000 for nursing staff who would be soon recruited by the state government on contract outsourcing basis.

He said that the contract nursing staff, who are working in government hospitals have already been receiving wages up to Rs 17,500 per month. The contract staff are expecting better salaries than those paid at present, as they should get at least Rs 28,000 as per minimum wages act, he said. Narsimha said that Osmania Hospital, however, is paying only Rs 12,000 pm to the contract nursing staff. He expressed his concern over exploitation of outsourcing employees by the hospital.

At a juncture when employees were expecting 11th PRC to rectify the injustice done to them in 10th PRC, the government's decision has come as a shock to the nursing staff who were expecting implementation of minimum wage act, he said.

He condemned the insulting way of fixing salaries. He demanded that the government to at least implement GO 14 according to which the outsourcing nursing staff would get a salary of Rs 17,500. He warned the government of severe protests if the appropriate salaries are not given to the nursing employees.
