Phase 2 of Hyderabad metro is expected to have three corridors of which two are connected to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, said NVS Reddy, managing director Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL).

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the three corridors - Lakdikapul to RGIA, Nagole to LB Nagar and Raidurg to RGIA has been submitted to the state government and is under examination, Reddy added.

The metro line for about 5 km to the Old City has also been included in the second phase of the metro.

Recently the groundwork for phase 2 of the metro has begun after the completion of phase 1. The three corridors in phase 1 cover a length of approximately 72 km. Miyapur to LB Nagar, JBS to Falaknuma and Nagole to Raidurg are the part of Metro Phase 1.

The metro services from JBS to MGBS have been launched recently and is yet to be extended to Falaknuma.
