The South Zone police are intensifying their efforts to declare Safe Colonies. Recently in Falaknuma Police station limits, two colonies; namely Fayeem Bagh and Jahanuma have been declared as 'Safe Colonies'.

How it is done

In each police station limits, the police identify sensitive colonies and which are prone to incidents. It is followed by awareness programmes involving youngsters and a team is formed. Under the 'Safe Colony' program, only two routes would be opened during night time with just one exit point. By installing CCTVs at the entry point the selected youngsters of the team in the colony along with the Blue colt and patrolling sleuths would safeguard the colony.

From 10 pm to 6 am in the morning, the team members by installing the barricades at the entry point would enter the details of the persons and the vehicles by registering the timings in the book and identify whether those persons are the locals or outsiders.

They also keep a special surveillance on the locked houses in their colony if any. If any person found suspicious to them they will inform the local police. Thus the City police officials are encouraging the colonies to make more number of colonies into 'Safe Colonies Category' to reduce the offences, violent incidents and attacks during the night time in the City.
