Rs 33 lakh cash seized from a passenger at RGI airport

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials on Monday seized Rs 33 lakh worth foreign currency from a passenger, trying to go to Sharjah from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA).

The CISF officials observed a bunch of papers in the bag when luggage was scanned during the security check and intercepted the passenger. Another intensive check was conducted later and the passenger failed to produce documentary evidence and satisfactory explanation for carrying the huge amount of cash.

The currency comprised US Dollars, Omani Riyal, Saudi Riyal and Qatari Riyal.

They detained the passenger and handed over him to customs officials for further probe. The passenger is being questioned.
