Illegal granite mining continues unabated
Illegal mining has been going on unabated in the district and no official action has been initiated so far, though the incidents have been repeatedly reported.

Unscrupulous people are excavating granite from the tank on the outskirts of Korviched village in Tandur mandal. Villagers criticised that officials of irrigation, revenue never bother about this activity being carried out in broad daylight.
The entire mining activity goes on daytime. The excavated granite is being transported in trucks during night. Even the officials of road transport authority and police never stopped the trucks for checking. Villagers allege that officials are letting free the miscreants after taking bribes.
Villagers said the tank was the only big revenue source for them and the tank is being destroyed due to excessive digging, which is causing the damage to the fish rearing. They appeal to authorities to initiate action against illegal miners and save the lake.
