Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC) hosted a State-level Exhibition for Assistive Technology on Thursday that marks International Day for Disabled Persons, to recognize and showcase assistive and rehabilitative solutions for the elderly and people with disabilities (PWDs)

Hyderabad: Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC) hosted a State-level Exhibition for Assistive Technology on Thursday that marks International Day for Disabled Persons, to recognize and showcase assistive and rehabilitative solutions for the elderly and people with disabilities (PWDs).

The exhibition organized at HMDA Grounds was inaugurated by Minister of IT, Telangana K T Rama Rao. Ministers visited the 30 innovations devised by Grassroot Innovators, Students, and Startups across India while majority of them are from Telangana.

While there have been recurring concerns in addressing the issues of the elderly and people with disabilities (PwDs), the exhibition aims to identify the best solutions, scale them to market-ready, and recognize the efforts being made to innovate in the space.

The exhibition was a part of the larger Assistive Technology Summit 2020 which has a culmination of stakeholders from academia, government, startups and Non-profit. The stakeholders for the summit and exhibition are IIT Hyderabad, T Works, Social Alpha, Artilab Foundation, Assistech Foundation, L V Prasad Eye Institute, Youth4Jobs, Unmukt-The Senior Hub, Kult.

The exhibition that saw innovations on Visual Impairment, Developmental & Cognitive Disabilities, Locomotor Disability, Speech & Hearing Impairment and Senior Citizens has seen B Shailaja, Director, Welfare of Disabled & Senior Citizens, Govt of Telangana, Divya Devarajan, Commissioner, Women Development & Child Welfare Govt of Telangana, Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, IT & IC Dept. Govt of Telangana, and Ravi Narayan, Chief Innovation Officer, TSIC.
