Mir Alam Tank limits to be marked afresh today
A day ahead of the proposed survey of the FTL and Buffer Zone at Mir Alam Tank, the revenue officials under Rajendranagar on Tuesday carried out an awareness drive and informed the locals about the programme scheduled to be held on July 31, as per the court direction.

Following the High Court orders, the officials of revenue department finally launched a publicity campaign on Tuesday wherein they made the announcement about the proposed survey of FTL (Full Tank Level) and Buffer Zone at Mir Alan Tank to constitute exact boundaries of the water body.
"According to the orders we are conducting tam-tam (a mode of publicity in olden times) to inform the local people about the scheduled survey on July 31 about 11 am and even pasting the notices regarding the same on the walls," said Mohammed Nizamuddin, the Mandal Revenue Inspector, Rajendranagar.
All the departments concerned have already been informed about the proposed survey and the officials have made necessary arrangements in this regard to carry out free and fair measurements in order to maintain transparency. "A team from irrigation department would carry out the measurement while the officials of revenue and GHMC would supervise the work. The police personnel would also be deployed to maintain law and order and to control any situation," he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that the GHMC town planning wing has carried out demolition of alleged illegal shades at Mir Alam Lake that landed it in a legal tangle. Those who were affected with the operation knocked on the doors of the High Court for an appropriate action, which in turn ordered a fresh survey of the FTL and Buffer Zone of the lake to "constitute exact boundaries of the water body."
Meanwhile, local people were caught unaware of the abrupt publicity campaign by the revenue authorities. With the authorities initiating the task, a section of local people in Hassan Nagar are apprehensive about the outcome of the proposed survey. They expressed concern about the survey of FTL and Buffer Zone at the lake, which might open the Pandora's box and would pave way for more difficult situated for them in the days to come. "We are worried about the outcome. If there is a deviation from the existing records, it is likely to impact the status quo of the existing houses in the nearby localities," said a resident on condition of anonymity.
