NGOs give a call for peace, amity on Eid
The Muslim religious luminaries and NGOs in the city called upon the masses to celebrate this Eid without hurting sentiments of fellow citizens and maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.

They cautioned the people not to fall prey to the anti-social elements which may try to disturb the communal harmony.
Moulana Syed Taraq Quadri and Moulana Syed Hamid Husain Shuttari, President and Vice-President of All India Majlisey Inquilab E Millat (AIMIM) respectively, in a joint statement emphasised that citizens celebrating Eid should avoid slaughtering prohibited animals taking into consideration religious sensitivities of Hindu brothers.
"Islam is a religion of peace and any action endangering peace & tranquility should therefore be resisted and discouraged. Throwing filth & garbage on roads and places other than garbage bins besides endangering health of citizens is also against Islamic principles which ordain keeping the surroundings neat & clean," they noted.
They also urged GHMC as it has an important role to play in planning and implementing Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by timely lifting filth ad garbage, or else there is every possibility of risking public health.
"Muslims should practise their rituals on Eid day with full of devotion and reverence besides maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings. In present circumstances, a slightest pretext is enough to disturb the peaceful atmosphere. Disturbing forces might use the Eid-ul-Azha occasion to unleash their agenda and thwart the religious harmony in the city," said Mohammed Imam Tahseen, president of Hi-tech Youth Association.
Urging the GHMC to hold special drives on the Eid day to remove swiftly the leftover carcass, he said, "the civil body should distribute the plastic bags among the people so to help them collect the trash and dispose them off in proper way."
Although this time the prohibited animals where by and large not being chosen for sacrifice by the Muslims, cow vigilantes are nevertheless raising objections to transportation of other permissible animals. This is tantamount to an attempt to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the city. The Police Commissioner should deploy police personnel in mufti to check the cow vigilantes from harassing the people, thereby disturbing the peace and harmony of an otherwise communally tranquil city." said Sahifa Ismat Khan, founder of FMS Welfare Trust.
