Drainage, bad roads, street lighting, public safety to get attention

People elected from 95 municipal division have earned the dubious distinction of being 'Costly Corporator,' the reason being, the division falls under the posh Jubilee Hills area, where live many of who is who in the State and the city.

However, Y Venkatesh says, "the Costly Corporator is just a tag. In fact, the area presents two different pictures. The poorest of the poor also live among the affluent of the city."

One can understand, as around 25,000 live in slums which have not seen any sign of development for the last couple of years. Bad roads and broken and choking sewer lines depict the sorry state in which people are living in the slums in the division.

Next acute problem that residents in several colonies face is erratic water supply. At places, they do face severe water scarcity. The state of affairs in Indiranagar shows the true face of development achieved.

It was for this reason that people from other areas like Aditya Nagar, MG Nagar facing similar problems such as those in slums had threatened not to vote in the recent GHMC polls.

Venkatesh says by-lanes and inner lanes in colonies were in a very bad state. There is a need for laying cement roads. Similarly, top priority needs to be given to streamlining drainage system and efforts to prevent flooding.

The corporator-elect finds that streetlighting is another issue that people often complain about. Besides, they insist on installing CCTV cameras for enhanced safety. He expresses confidence of being able to address as many problems as possible and resolve people's issues.
