Mettuguda: Railway employees staged protest at railway workshop, Mettuguda on Tuesday, in response to the call given by the central committee of South Central Mazdoor Union for hundred-day protest condemning the efforts of the central government to privatize railways.

A large number of railway workers and employees participated in the protest and raised slogans against the central government. Speaking to media during the protest, general secretary AIRF CH Shankar Rao said BJP government at the centre, after forming the government for the second time, has been trying to privatize the railways in phases and the union has given a call for hundred-day protest against central government's efforts.

He urged the employees to be ready for a strike and stay united in their struggle against the central government. Divisional secretary of the union G Buchi Reddy, Narendra Shetti, RA Naik, ADS Ramadevi and other leaders participated in the protest.
