Nacharam: Weekly markets are gaining grounds in the city. The cost of vegetables is cheaper in these markets compared to those prevailing in supermarkets. These markets are being organised at various places in Nacharam division on some day or the other.

For instance, it is on Friday in Nacharam village, while it's on a Sunday at Babanagar and on Monday at HMT Nagar. This is giving a sigh of relief to residents as they are able to purchase groceries at reasonable prices.

Speaking to The Hans India here Sunday, some of the customers said that they were able to find all kinds of fresh vegetables and fruits in these markets. Residents said that they need not travel as they were getting what they want in their locality once in a week. Even if we miss purchasing at our locality, we can go to a nearby locality the next day where the market would be conducted, they opined.

On the other hand, farmers in Rythu Bazaar are worried over their business dropping with the increasing number of weekly markets. Sayulu, a vegetable vendor at Rythu Bazaar expressed worry over his business going down day after day. Mahesh, a resident of Baba Nagar said he's saving a lot of time as he is able to get groceries at his place.
