Secunderabad: Principal Secretary to Health, Medical & Family Welfare Shanti Kumari, along with Additional Traffic CP Anil Kumar, flagged off 'Stroke Care on Wheels' special ambulances at a programme organised by Yashoda Hospital here on Tuesday, on the occasion of 'World Stroke Day.'

Speaking on the occasion, Shanti Kumari said that deaths due to paralysis are on the rise. Expressing concern over increasing deaths and disabilities due to paralytic strokes, she said that blood pressure and diabetes as the primary reasons for paralytic strokes.

Health issues among youth are mostly caused by unhealthy diet, overconsumption of junk food, smoking and alcohol, she said. Congratulating the management of Yashoda Hospital for providing special ambulances for stroke patients, she said the ambulances that are equipped with CT scan would help in taking proper care of the patients during the shifting of patients to the hospital.
