A special Ashada month calendar was released during the festivities of Bonalu at Lal Bazar Sri Bujili Mahankali temple on Wednesday.

Secunderabad: A special Ashada month calendar was released during the festivities of Bonalu at Lal Bazar Sri Bujili Mahankali temple on Wednesday. Secunderabad Cantonment Board CEO Chandrasekar, Cantonment Board Member Bhagya Sri and Sri Sham Kumar, former Cantonment Board Member released the special calendar designed by Oorvi Media amid devotees on the temple premises.

"First time in Telangana, the calendar 'Sri Mahta Kaladarshini' containing portraits of mother goddess in the temples of twin cities are brought during Bonalu, a symbol of Telangana culture," said Vaddepalli Shravan Kumar of Oorvi Media. Kumar said Oorvi Media would bring out a calendar with the same concept with the portraits of mother goddesses across the country.

Almanac is provided by Jyothirmaye Mahapeetham Sri Divyagnana Sidhanthi for this calendar. Actor Kishore Das was the special guest. Temple EO P Mahendar Reddy, Former vice-president of Secunderabad Cantonment Board Parasani Gourishankar, 'Dharshanam' Sharma Editor of Dharshanam Magazine and festival organising members P Ramchander, Sadanand, Madhu & Bhaktavatsalam of the temple were present in the calendar release programme.

Uniqueness of Lal Bazar Sri Bujili Mahankali temple

The celebrations of Bonalu, which are also known as 'Ashada Jatara' are celebrated with pomp and fervour across the twin cities. Usually, as a practice, these festivities are organised on Sunday and Monday. But Bonalu celebrations are different at Lal Bazar Sri Bujili Mahankali temple. The celebrations are held on Wednesday and Thursday. The temple and these traditions have a history over 165 years.
